Why was the Clincial Consultation & Clincial Supervision
directory created?
Welcome to the Consultation and Supervision Directory. I am so glad you are here.
Finding clinical supervision and consultation can be so hard. It happens all too often that professionals seeking these services are receiving them from people who they heard through word of mouth. Many of us feel obligated to just take whoever is available to provide these services, because there is no one central place to look and find out who ACTUALLY is providing and WANTING to provide these services. Some of us have searched Facebook, Instagram, and even found ourselves going to our state board websites and contacting every single person on the list with the right credentials to see if they are willing to provide these services.
It is so frustrating to hear all of the horror stories of people being matched with the wrong supervisor, or someone who was providing supervision or consultation and was way outside of their niche. This whole process can be daunting, messy, and overwhelming for everyone.
On the flip side, for those of us who are wanting to grow our business through consultation and supervision, it can be hard to get your name out there. It has been heartbreaking to hear the statistics on suicide rates of therapists in private practice due to the isolation, loneliness, and lack of support. It can be daunting to sit on the stand to testify and be asked if you consulted with anyone on your treatment plan, with little support to back up your answers.
That is where the consultation and supervision directory was formed. It is my goal to have a one-stop-shop for people to go to and find the RIGHT fit for supervision and consultation. How fantastic would it be to have someone who is actually working with children, provide you supervision or consultation on how to work with children, or to have someone who loves working with individuals with eating disorders be able to supervise you through that. Or, what if you are struggling with the business side of your private practice, well the consultation and supervision directory will allow you to find a consultant who specializes in the business side of private practice.
