About Me: I am an LCSW with a passion for trauma-informed care and helping to support new social workers as they move into the field. I highly value mindfulness, nature, stillness, self-care, and self-compassion, and I bring these values into my work with supervisees. I love being a therapist, but I also understand that it can be taxing, and I consider teaching about self-care, self-awareness, and setting boundaries to be crucial to sustainability.
I worked in a variety of industries before landing in social work, and I feel that this varied experience helps me to better understand diverse perspectives. I have also spent a good deal of time living and traveling abroad, which I feel has also added to developing my perspective.
Experience: I have experience working with trauma, sexual assault, homelessness, substance abuse, mood disorders, system involvement, self-harm, and personality disorders, among other areas. My experience draws from time spent in community mental health on an outpatient and in-home basis as well as in private practice. I have worked with a variety of populations, and I have geographical experience ranging from the South Bronx, Bed-Stuy, Ecuador, Uganda, Aurora, and Denver.
Modalities: I use a trauma-informed approach, and I consider learning about trauma to be crucial to ethical and effective therapeutic practice. Some of my preferred methods are EMDR, Internal Family Systems, CBT, body-focused work, and DBT. I consider attachment to be primary to any therapeutic work, and put a high emphasis on relationships. I am also a certified Reiki Master.
Approach: I believe that supervision begins, most importantly, with the relationship between supervisor and supervisee. Going into the field for the first time can be intimidating and challenging, and brings up many internal issues that we may not have been anticipated. In my role as a supervisor, I help you to recognize, hone, and grow your own strengths and instincts, while gently and compassionately helping you to address areas of growth. I absolutely love serving the role of a supervisor. I bring warmth and humor to this relationship, knowing that emotional safety is crucial.
