In 2018, Steven DiMarzo founded Second Nature Counseling as a response to the need for quality, accessible mental health care in the Central New York region. In 2019, Steven and Second Nature Counseling moved to Schenectady, New York, so he could be closer to family and expand the practice to reach the community’s needs.
Since then, Steven has worked to extend the reach of Second Nature Counseling to the Capital Region of New York, providing counseling services, consultation to local and regional organizations to assist in reducing team turnover, burnout & compassion fatigue, and to educate team members and leadership on the importance of wellness and mental health in the workplace. Steven also provides consulting services to fellow mental health professionals who are starting, growing, and scaling their own practices through SNC’s partner company, Second Nature Consulting & Training.
Second Nature Counseling’s mission is to contribute to the elimination of the stigma associated with mental and behavioral health disorders by making counseling services accessible to all, offering education and training for mental health professionals and other practitioners, and supporting the expansion of mental health and other wellness services.
Prior to working in private practice, Steven worked for not-for-profit agencies, providing counseling services to clients and patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, leadership to clinical teams, and supporting the growth and advancement of services in Central New York. Steven has worked in other not-for-profit industries, always having a focus on community engagement and improvement.
